Why REMS can pursue Federal grants under the Assistance to Firefighters Grant

Because of REMS’ status as a not-for-profit, 501(c)(3) organization, we are classified as a non-affiliated EMS agency under the Assistance to Firefighters Grant and therefore are eligible to apply for funding that  would help the organization in protecting the health and safety of those we serve and our emergency responders.  This funding would be used to purchase and/or replace equipment that is very expensive to purchase outright.  Typically, funds would need to be saved until such time as the purchase can be made.  With the ability to apply for these grants, if awarded, we can purchase the equipment sought making funds available to invest in other areas of our organization.

REMS Applies for Grants

REMS is pleased to announce that on Friday May 28, 2010 a grant application was submitted to FEMA under the Assistance to Firefighters Grant.  According to the FEMA website, "the primary goal of the Assistance to Firefighters Grants (AFG) is to meet the firefighting and emergency response needs of fire departments and nonaffiliated emergency medical service organizations".  Our goal in pursuing these grants is to provide our staff with up to date presonal protective equipment, a safer working environment and provide those we care for with state of the art equipment.  In total, we are seeking $256,704.00 in funding under AFG.
